Tour Subsidies
The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art has new resources available to help art teachers arrange field trips to the museum during the upcoming 2008-09 school year. Art teachers may request bus transportation and substitute teacher subsidies by contacting the Education Department. School Tour funds are limited and are dispersed on a first-come, first-served basis; preference is given to urban and rural schools with limited funds and to schools that serve students who are economically disadvantaged.
Teaching Guides
These informative packets are developed by the Education Department
for use in advance of a tour. Teaching Guides provide biographical information, analysis of artworks, pre- and post-visit discussion questions, lesson ideas, and illustrations of a selection of works on view.
Lending Library
Video programs shown in conjunction with exhibitions or as separate video
screenings are available free-of-charge for short term loan to educators.
MMoCA also serves as an educational resource center for classroom materials
through the National Gallery of Art Extended Loan Program. A variety of
videotapes and slides on artists, artistic movements and ways to look at
art are offered through the museum. This material may be used as a curriculum
supplement, as an introduction to art history, in advance of a tour, or
as a tool to enhance art appreciation.
