The museum’s lecture hall, lobby, and rooftop sculpture garden are available for rental, all with the very special backdrops of contemporary art exhibitions and world-class architecture. Food and beverage service is provided exclusively by Catering A Fresco, which operates out of Fresco, the museum’s rooftop restaurant.

Lecture Hall
The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art’s state-of-the-art lecture hall is available for presentations, film screenings, talks, panel discussions, piano and small music recitals, and more. The space seats 230, and has a small stage and a full range of audio-visual equipment for use with film, video, DVD, and computer presentations.
Lobby
The museum’s spacious lobby boasts high ceilings, black granite floors, large windows, and a stunning three-story glass staircase. This space is perfect for standing cocktail receptions during the museum’s public hours of operation, or small seated dinner events when the museum is closed. Because it is adjacent to the lecture hall, the lobby combines well with presentations or recitals that also incorporate a reception.
Rooftop Sculpture Garden
The rooftop sculpture garden is a very special venue for outdoor events during warm months. Guests on the rooftop enjoy stunning third-story views of Madison, from the Capitol dome to Bascom Hill, as well as bird’s eye views of the State Street pedestrian mall and the surrounding rooftops. The opportunity to view large-scale outdoor sculptures by renowned artists adds to the venue’s charm, as do the many plantings and grassy areas. The sculpture garden accommodates 300 people standing or 230 seated in chairs for an outdoor presentation. For an additional charge, guests may have white frame tents installed through Bucky’s Rentals. Tents can accommodate up to 64 guests seated at banquet tables, 48 guests seated at round tables, 80 seated in chairs for a ceremony (with an aisle) or 160 guests standing. Weddings
The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art’s stunning new building provides a wedding setting that’s almost as beautiful as the bride. The rooftop sculpture garden, lobby, and lecture hall, and Fresco dining room may be combined in a number of ways, offering couples one of the most unique venues in Madison. Celebrate your outdoor wedding ceremony on the rooftop, then move downstairs for an hour-long champagne toast in the lobby or a tour of the galleries before heading back upstairs for an afternoon lunch or an evening of dining and dancing under the stars. During quiet times, the lobby can also provide an exquisite venue for a wedding ceremony or reception. Fresco’s dining room is readily available during non-dinner hours or may be bought out for evening events. With light maple wood paneling and bright red theatre-style chairs, the museum’s lecture hall also offers a lovely ceremony site and functions as a cozy weather backup for rooftop ceremonies that would prefer an indoor space over a tent.
