Cracking Box
David Nash
1992
oak
31" x 34" x 33"
Nash cuts down dead trees and uses the wood to make his sculptures. The title of the work, Cracking Box, alludes to the fact that the sculpture will continue to crack and split. For Nash, this allows the tree to continue to grow. This sculpture was purchased after the 1995 exhibition David Nash: Voyages and Vessels.
