MMoCA is presenting multiple series of critically-acclaimed movies that are not available anywhere else in the region. With an eclectic array of films presented, you’re sure to find something interesting to view; whether on the Rooftop Sculpture Garden on a warm summer night, or in the Lecture Hall in the middle of winter.

Summer Season

Beneath the stars and surrounded by art and nature, the Rooftop Sculpture Garden provides a serene setting for exploring critically acclaimed and award-winning films from across the globe.

Curated by James Kreul, the series features the breadth of filmmaking with each week offering a new perspective.

Admission is free, and films start roughly 20 minutes after sunset. Filmgoers are welcome to bring a blanket or portable chairs to use. Snacks, including fresh popcorn, will be available for purchase at the event. Films move to the Museum Lecture Hall in case of rain.

Fall/Winter Season

As the temperatures cool the cinema moves indoors into the Lecture Hall. Featuring the eclectic mix of films that are not available anywhere else in the region.

Curated by James Kreul, MMoCA Cinema is often accompanied by live events such as Q&A sessions with the filmmakers and unique performances.

Is seating is provided?

For the summer season in the Rooftop Sculpture Garden limited seating is provided, but we encourage you to bring a blanket or a chair for more comfort.

During the colder months, there is seating provided within our lecture hall.

Will there be any snacks or refreshments available for purchase?

For events on in the Rooftop Sculpture Garden, water and snacks are available for purchase. Refreshments are not available for events held in the lecture hall. Carry-ins are not allowed.

When does the film start?

During the summer the film start times are approximate and depends on sunset and light levels. We recommend you find your spot by 8:10 PM. Other film events start times will vary.
