In the early 1990s, seven Black artists, including Floyd Newsum, recognized potential in a run-down section of Houston’s Historic Third Ward, one of the city’s oldest Black neighborhoods. Together, these artists explored how to be a resource to the community and how art, freed from traditional studio practices, could be an engine for social transformation, growing into one of the most impressive and visionary public art projects in the country.
Join us for a virtual presentation by Danielle Burns Wilson, Project Row House’s Curator and Art Director, as she gives a history of Project Row Houses, as it celebrates its 30th year in operation. This talk will be shown via Facebook Live; a Facebook account is not required to participate.
