To Help Prevent the Spread of the Coronavirus, MMoCA has Cancelled Friday’s Exhibition Opening Celebration and Weekend Education Events

MADISON, WI—To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art has cancelled opening events for Uncommon Accumulation: The Mark and Judy Bednar Collection of Chicago Imagism, including an opening reception and artist talk.

In addition, MMoCA’s education programs scheduled for this weekend, including Friday’s ArtZone, Saturday’s drop-in tour of the Uncommon Accumulation exhibition, and Sunday’s Kids’ Art Adventure, also have been cancelled. The March 20 and April 17 Arts Memory Café, led by the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Alliance at MMoCA, also are cancelled.

At this time, MMoCA galleries and the Museum Store remain open, and the museum has taken additional steps to minimize the spread of the virus, including posting hygiene-related recommendations, providing hand sanitizer at key locations in the museum and increasing the cleaning and sanitizing of museum spaces.

MMoCA anticipates the opportunity to reschedule the celebration of the Uncommon Accumulation exhibition in the coming months and is re-evaluating the situation daily, based on recommendations from local health authorities, to determine if further measures are necessary.

MMoCA encourages the public to visit mmoca.org and watch the museum’s social media for updated information.
